Analyzing Energy Flows with the Energy Flow (Sankey) Chart
Track the energy flows from distribution boards down to individual machines as defined in the Power Hierarchy
What is the Energy Flow Chart?
The Energy Flow chart is a Sankey diagram that provides a visual representation of your plant’s electrical consumption. It maps the flow of energy from upstream ("parent") assets, like transformers, down to downstream ("children") assets, like individual machines. This visualization is generated directly from the structure defined in your Power Hierarchy.

Why use the Energy Flow Chart?
-
Visualize load distribution: Understand at a glance which departments, production lines, or machine groups are the heaviest consumers.
-
Verify infrastructure: Ensure your digital Power Hierarchy matches your physical plant layout.
-
Simplify complex data: Transform data points from multiple sensors into a single, intuitive flow diagram.
How to use the Energy Flow Chart
Go to the 'Energy Flow' tab within Electricity.
Here you can:
- Update the time interval via the time selector
- Update the unit for energy (kWh, cost, CO2e)
If the flow looks incorrect, navigate to Settings -> Electricity Settings -> Power Hierarchy to update your asset mapping.
