Configure Bridge Wi-Fi using a USB drive

Summary: Connect your bridge to the local Wi-Fi network to begin transmitting machine data to the platform.

What you need

  • USB flash drive (FAT32 formatted)

  • Computer with a text editor (Notepad or TextEdit)

  • Wi-Fi SSID and Password

  • Bridge connected to power

Instructions

  1. Open a text editor on your computer and create a new file named wifi.txt.

  2. Type your network name and password separated by a semicolon (e.g., NetworkName;Password).

    • Note: For networks without a password, use the format: SSID;;key_mgmt=NONE

  3. Save the wifi.txt file to the root folder of the USB flash drive.

  4. Insert the USB flash drive into the USB port on the powered bridge.

  5. Wait 5 minutes for the bridge to process the credentials.

  6. Remove the USB flash drive and plug it back into your computer.

  7. Confirm the file mac-addresses-XXXX.txt (where XXXX is your bridge ID) now exists on the drive.

  8. Log in to the Sensorfact Platform to verify the bridge status is online.

If this doesn't work

  • Check File Name: Ensure the file is exactly named wifi.txt. The bridge will not recognize "wifi.txt.txt" or "WIFI.txt".

  • Format Drive: Verify the USB drive is formatted to FAT32. Larger drives formatted as exFAT or NTFS will fail to read.

  • Verify Power: Ensure the Power LED on the bridge is solid before inserting the drive.
