Tracking the impact of your energy-saving interventions

Set up interventions to see exactly how much energy, cost, and CO2e you saved on a specific project.

What is Impact Tracking?

Impact Tracking lets you compare energy use before and after a change you made, like fixing compressed air leakage, or reduce standby energy waste.

You pick a baseline period and an reporting period. The platform calculates the difference in kWh, costs, and CO2e emissions between the two, and extrapolates into a year to estimate your annual savings.

Why to use Impact Tracking?

  • Prove your savings: Easy analyze and communicate the energy savings of your interventions, making it easier to report to management.
  • Spot what's going on: See which interventions actually move the needle.
  • Plan ahead: Have all your potential savings in the list to plan for future interventions and keep track of the current ones.
  • Learn across sites: HQ can identify best-performing sites and interventions, and roll out those practices elsewhere. 

Step-by-Step Instructions

How to create a new intervention
  1. Go to the Impact Tracking tab in the top menu.
  2. Click on the '+ Add intervention' button. 
  3. Set the Status of the intervention (Planned; In progress; Completed)  
  4. Fill in the Intervention Name that you'll recognize later (eg. Installation LED lights)
  5. Add a short Description of what you changed and why
  6. Select the Asset(s) affected by this intervention
  7. Set you Baseline period  for the period before the change, and your Reporting period for the period after the change. Note: The Baseline period and Reporting period should have the same length (e.g., both 30 days). The two periods should also be as comparable as possible in terms of other factors that can influence savings, such as production volume and outside temperature. 
  8. Choose the Energy consumption type you want to compare (Total energy consumption; Standby energy consumption; Outside Operating Hours energy consumption). For example, if you fixed a standby waste issue, select 'Standby energy consumption' to isolate that energy type.
  9. Click 'Create' to create the intervention

How to review the intervention data

  1. Open the intervention via the 'More details' button to view the energy, costs and CO2e emissions difference between the 2 periods.  
  2. Check the 'Estimated annual savings', this projects your short-term saving out to a full year. Note: This estimate does not adjust for seasonal weather or production changes.
