# Standby Consumption Detection

Our standby consumption detection feature helps you identify and manage energy waste across your facility. This powerful tool automatically distinguishes between active operation and standby periods, giving you insights into potential energy savings.

**How It Works**  
The standby detection feature uses advanced algorithms to identify patterns in your energy consumption data. It visually highlights standby periods in your charts, making it easy to spot opportunities for energy optimization.

**Key Features:**

- Automatic detection of standby periods
- Visual differentiation between operational and standby consumption through all tabs (Power, Energy, Energy Balance)
- Feedback mechanism to improve detection accuracy
- Tracking Reports and Alerts about Standby consumption

**Getting Started**  
The standby feature is activated by our consultants during your energy scan. If you've already had an energy scan but don't see the standby feature, please contact our support team for assistance (support@sensorfact.nl).

**Standby consumption in the Power tab:**

- zoom in to see the power level of your Standby consumption
- Follow up on standby events in Detail
- Standby consumption is not visible when multiple assets are selected

**Caution:**  
When viewing data in a zoomed-out view, production patterns might occasionally appear to be incorrectly identified as standby periods. The resolution of the graph could be the reason for this. Try zooming in to check if the apparent misidentification is simply due to the resolution of the zoomed-out view.

- Gain insight into the Energy consumption of the machine's standby states
- Compare the standby consumption over time
- Evaluate the effects of standby reduction measures

- In the Energy balance tab, you can compare the standby consumption of different machines
- Identify machines with the largest percentage of standby
- Click on "Display" and select "Table" to see more Details

Your input is crucial for improving our standby detection algorithms. When you notice inaccuracies in standby detection:

- Click the dedicated standby button located next to the display dropdown
- Fill in your feedback into the form that appears
- After submission, a status icon appears in your time series indicating: 
    - "In Progress" when we're working on your feedback
    - "Resolved" when your feedback has been addressed
    - If you indicate that you want to be contacted someone from our support team will follow up with you

**Use Cases**

- Calculate the cost of standby consumption across your facility
- Identify equipment with excessive standby power draw
- Use the alerts to shut down equipment during extended idle periods
- Compare standby consumption before and after efficiency measures
- Set targets for reducing standby energy waste and follow your progress with the Tracking Reports
