Create virtual (unmeasured) assets

Map your entire plant layout in the Power Hierarchy, even if some assets do not have physical sensors installed.

Why use Virtual Assets?

  • Complete Plant Mapping: Account for a more complete electrical flow on the Energy Flow chart when not all assets are directly measured by a sensor.

  • Automatic Totals: The system automatically calculates the energy for a Virtual Asset by summing up the data from all assets (which includes physical sensors connected) beneath it.

  • Distribution Tracking: Use them to represent distribution cabinets or sub-panels where you only measure the individual outgoing loads.

How to add a Virtual Asset

  1. Open the Power Hierarchy menu in Settings -> Electricity Settings. (Want to learn more about the Power Hierarchy? Read here more.)

  2. Navigate to the parent asset where the new virtual asset belongs to (e.g. your main site asset).

  3. Click on the 3-dot (⋮) menu on the Add Virtual Asset action.

  4. Give the Virtual Asset a name and an asset type.
  5. Click Save.

Where Virtual Assets are displayed

Virtual assets are marked with the Virtual Asset Icon to distinguish them from assets which are directly measured by a sensor. Locate your virtual assets within the Asset Tree using the 'Hierarchy' view, and in the Energy Flow chart.

Troubleshooting

  • Virtual Asset shows "No Data": Ensure there are physical assets with active sensors nested underneath the Virtual Asset. If the children have no data, the virtual parent will remain empty.

  • Asset is in the wrong place: Use the Edit button in the Power Hierarchy to drag and drop the asset to the correct Parent.
